Ziryab was trained in the UK by the legendary John & Thady Gosden, earning himself a rating of 88 after 3 podium finishes from his 6 career starts. He broke his maiden in June at Leicester over 1 mile, winning easily by 2 lengths under jockey Ryan Moore beating Theatre Honours who went on to win his next start and To Catch A Thief who went on to win his next two starts in style.
His sire, four times Group 1 winner Kingman, has established himself as a leading Northern-Hemisphere based sire with over 100 flat stakes performers. Kingman has also made a mark in the Southern Hemisphere, most recently with Group 1 winners King Colorado, trained by our very own Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, as well as the Kennedy Oaks winner Zardozi.
Ziryab's dam, Reem, sired by the mighty Galileo, achieved success as a three-time winner, including a noteworthy triumph in the Listed Al Bastakiya at Meydan by an impressive five-length margin. As a successful broodmare, Reem has produced smart prospects such as King Leonidas and Rasmee, in addition to our gelding Ziryab.
He looks a ready made city horse for trainers Ciaron Maher & David Eustace and is one we hope can progress through the ranks to cup level.
